Intune Networks appoints Arthur Smith as Chief Operating Officer

Intune Networks is delighted to announce the appointment of Arthur Smith as its Chief Operating Officer.

 

Prior to joining Intune, Arthur Smith served as a Senior Vice President with Ciena Corporation in Baltimore, MD, where he held the role of Chief Operating Officer. 

 

Commenting on his appointment Dr. Smith said, “Intune have developed industry-leading technology in optical burst switching and I am delighted to be part of the company. Intune Networks have developed a new networking technology, allowing telecoms operators to build networks that are far simpler to operate and with much greater connectivity than previously possible.

 

Intune have created a new way of switching packets over long distances, creating an optical Ethernet switch fabric that can switch packets in real-time across hundreds of kilometres. Intune's technology uses tuneable LASERs to switch packets using the emerging OBS (Optical Burst Switching) standard. Arthur Smith, Ph.D. Biography

 

Arthur Smith joined Intune Networks in April, 2012 as the company’s Chief Operating Officer. Previously, Dr. Smith served as a Senior Vice President with Ciena Corporation and held the role of Chief Operating Officer. Dr. Smith also led the integration of Nortel’s Metro Ethernet group after Ciena acquired it in 2010. Prior to these appointments, he held a variety of roles in engineering, operations and customer service after joining Ciena in 1997.
