An interview with John Dunne, CTO of Intune Networks focused on the application of “tuneable lasers” in optical networking. After 17years of Research & Development tuneable laser component and control, technology is finally mature enough to be responsive at the packet timescale. For the first time carriers can take the optical fibre networks and change what’s happening on the optical layer in the response to different packets. With this technology carriers can now implement in all optical network that is more responsive to the end user needs.
