Systems Application Modelling Engineer

We are actively seeking an engineer to provide the Sales and Product Marketing function with detailed accurate technical support regarding the Company’s product portfolio features functions and applications during bid process, competitive analysis and techno economic modeling.

Working within a cross functional environment, the candidate needs to exhibit a desire to influence and work with other engineering functions to achieve personal and company goals.


Main Responsibilities:

 

  • The SAM engineer will become and remain fully conversant with the features functions performance buglist strengths and weaknesses of the iVX8000 product platform and subsequent platforms and OEM equipment used by Intune to secure sales.

  • Construction and maintenance of a modelling infrastructure capable of demonstrating system performance in network applications, costing fully scaled solutions with pricing inputs from product management, and carrying out competitive analysis in both functional and cost domains.

  • Develop and maintain representative network models for sales and marketing to use in application engagements with customers.

  • Answer RFI and RFQs in partnership with sales and product management

  • Develop and maintain guidelines and tools for sales and marketing to carry out first level network application assessments.

  • Provide input to product road map

  • Provide input to standards development
  • Adherence and development of in house development processes

 

Experience, skills and qualification required:

 

  • Higher degree or equivalent in electronic engineering or computer science, or related professional degree.

  • Two to five years minimum experience preferred, but graduates will be considered

  • Experience in next generation networking technology including metro and carrier class Ethernet and MPLS technologies.
  • Have worked in or have a strong appreciation of rigorous product development lifecycles
  • Experience in the following areas will be advantageous

              Network Planning in a public carrier or enterprise environment

              Network modelling

              Opnet, modelling tool

 

  • ITU, IETF and IEEE standards as applied to product applications to network design
