Labview Development Engineer

Title:  Lab VIEW Developer Engineer

Role and Responsibilities:


The role, as Lab VIEW software developer within the Photonics group, you will have responsibility for assisting the transfer of the Lab VIEW code, developed by the photonics design engineers to calibrate and test the optical modules, to a production environment. The Lab VIEW code will need to be robust and easily maintainable in order to be integrated in the procedures released to the contract manufacturers assembling the various optical modules. In this role you will also have the chance of creating templates and guideline for the Lab VIEW code developed by the design engineers.  You will also be responsible for the extension of the library of Lab VIEW tools used by the company such as controls of instruments and custom boards, low level VIs and general methods.


The specific responsibilities will include:


• Test, strengthen and document the Lab VIEW code to be released for production
• Formal release of Lab VIEW code for assembly and test
• Compatibility of code with version control tools
• Work with Intune engineers and external contractor to resolve issues highlighted during manufacturing
• Development of Lab VIEW guidelines and templates
• Documentation Lab VIEW code and methods

Experience, Skills and Qualifications required:


• Degree in optical or electrical engineering
• >3 years’ experience developing Lab VIEW data acquisition/control software with record of formal training in Lab VIEW and/or experience in rigorous coding practice 
• Experience of working with high-end diagnostic equipment in a production environment
• Knowledge of various communication protocols, preferably with direct experience in Lab VIEW, such as TCP, UDP, IEEE488/GPIB, RS-232, USB, etc…
• Experience of working in an optical lab & optical measuring instruments is a plus
• Understanding of production line environment and software automation tools, such as Test Stand.
• Ability to work to pressurised deadlines while demonstrating a track record for innovation and creativity.
