KEY RESPONSILILITIES


Project Manager required for delivery of complex technical product, the role will include managing the implementation of the subsystems in the product.  A strong individual who can drive a project to completion is a must.

Responsible for the day to day running of the project team tasked with the delivery of the subsystem

·         Involved from conception to final acceptance and closure. This will include working closely with the team locally and remotely spread between Belfast, Dublin and offsite contractors.

·         Responsible for setting agreed development objectives, monitoring, reporting progress, identifying and managing risks within the scope of the team and delivering results in meeting with time expectations. 

·         Manage and interface with a number of subsystems and manage the interdependencies technically and also the assigned resources in order to ensure that priorities are executed seamlessly. Note that the team could be in more than one location and in different time zones.

·         Working in a medium sized organization which is experiencing rapid growth and will as such be required to negotiate the availability of resources as required.

·         Ensuring that effective communication is maintained through project meetings, reporting and presentations.

·         Working as part of a commercial and technical cross-functional team. 

·         Management of unplanned work (incident reports and change management).


Qualifications, skills and experience:


  • Possess a degree in an engineering related discipline, however relevant experience will be taken into consideration when assessing suitability for the position.

 

 

 

  • At least 4 years project management experience ideally in the telecoms environment;

  • Engineering background and preferably with a high level of telecoms systems understanding;

  • Worked as part of a commercial and technical cross-functional team.

  • 3/4 years SW, hardware, photonics or FPGA related experience in a rapidly evolving product development environment is desirable, however candidates with a highly developed cross-functional background will be considered.   

DESIRED 

  • Project methodology i.e. Prince 2, PMBOK;  

  • Telecoms product development involving the complete development lifecycle including maintenance;

  • Delivery of projects into operational  telecoms networks;

  • An understanding of handling Software, hardware etc. in a production environment.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Good project planning, risk analysis as well as an appreciation of commercial issues

·         Ability to drive the project forward in order to maintain the project schedule. This will require excellent motivational skills and the ability to make informed group and individual decisions.

·         Good presentation skills and the ability to communicate clearly at all levels.

·         Excellent organisational, interpersonal skills, a team player, a self-starter with a “can do” attitude.

·         The ability to work with cross functional teams.
