Jonty formed Corporate Africa group of companies in 1992. Corporate Africa and its subsidiary NAIL ( New Africa Investment Limited) were the first Black Economic Empowerment companies to be listed on the JSE (1994). As the CEO of NAIL, Jonty also served on the following boards: African Bank Limited, African Merchant Bank, Jacaranda FM, Johnnies Industrial. Corporation Limited, Metropolitan Life Limited, Mobile Telephone Network Holdings (MTN), South African Breweries Limited, ABIL Group Limited and Union Alliance Holdings Limited. Built NAIL in 4 years from zero (0) to controlling a market capitalization of R24 Billion with a profit of R500 Million and R1 Billion of cash on the balance sheet. It was South Africa’s largest Black Empowerment company with 34,000 individual Black Shareholders. Jonty was a founding Director of MTN, Africa’s largest single listed corporation and was instrumental in the establishment of MTN Africa. Now he is focusing on establishing an African fund through ASA and ASEF.
